AM5728: question on TSHUT

I've seen several posts on the behavior and usage of the thermal shutdown feature, specifically on TSHUT. This post https://e2e.ti.com/support/processors/f/791/p/680839/2512053 says that the values are fixed and can't be accessed by software. However, the latest TRM says it can be accessed. Why was this control added, and are you able to write to it?

The second question is on the values for this register. This post https://e2e.ti.com/support/processors/f/791/p/583110/2156914 says it's fixed to 123C for industrial/commercial grades devices. Is this true for all devices, even though they're only rated to less than 123C?

TSHUT is a safety mechanism to prevent catastrophic failure in a thermal runaway scenario. It is not meant as a moderator. A properly design system will never trigger a TSHUT event. As discussed in section 18.4.6.2.3 of the TRM, these values are fixed and not readable. A TSHUT event will force the device into a warm reset state to reduce heat generation.

There is also a parallel set of registers and comparators that have registers for THOLD_HOT and THOLD_COLD that can be programmed to generate interrupt events that can be used to throttle processing, or perhaps enable additional cooling, that are fully programmable. This is discussed in "18.4.6.2.2 Registers For The Thermal Alert Comparators".
