TMS320C206: Research for pin to pin equivalent DSP with same internal architecture

Part Number: TMS320C206

Dear, i remarked that the DSP TMS320C206 was not recommended for new designs.

My conclusion is that the product is EOL --> Can you confirm when it will be totally unfoundable?

As a result i am looking for an equivalent PIN to PIN DSP components moreover very close of the TMS320C206 architecture.

I saw on the TI side that there were some replacement solutions here below

TMS320C5517 – The device has SIMILAR FUNCTIONALITY but is not functionally equivalent to the compared device.
OMAP-L138 – The device has SIMILAR FUNCTIONALITY but is not functionally equivalent to the compared device.
TMS320C6748 – The device has SIMILAR FUNCTIONALITY but is not functionally equivalent to the compared device.

I would like to evaluate the supply risk and the PIN to PIN compatibility as well.

--> Could you please provide me supply time for each references as well as price and compatibility percentages ?

I am not specialist at all of this kind of components so if you can help me.

Thanks a lot for your support.

  • Hi Sebastian,

Unfortunately, no one of the suggested replacement solutions is not pin to pin compatible with TMS320C206.
You can find pricing information about each one product at its product page section "Order now".
About EOL TI has no plans to immediate plans to EOL any devices and the devices are ok to order and ship. See our General Quality Guidelines (section 20) for more information on product longevity.
    www.ti.com/.../szzq076j.pdf
We cannot give a year that we will EOL because there are no current plans to EOL.
It is hard to me to give you compatibility percentages because they are so different but you should choose replacement device according to necessary performance, power consumption and price.
