Please tell me which tool is required to debug/dumb the code for Sitara AM3358 processor for Windows 7. I have installed Code Composer Studio 8 Win 32 bit.

I am a new to this processor, I am searching the details about this processor.
With Starter kit, two micro sd cards came with Android and Linux OS. Currently I am searching the details that how to work with processor on Windows 7. Could you provide me all the details please?

Will it support Windows OS? How to boot the processor with Windows OS.

If I use linux on AM335x board and I write a code on Code Composer Studio on my Windows 7 PC. Then Will I able to dumb the code on board and will it work?

Windows CE is not supported by TI. For support please contact the third-party provider witekio.com

This TMDSSK3358 board support Linux, Linux-RT and TI-RTOS by TI:

Yes, you can use Linux on AM335x side and Windows on your host machine side.

From what I understand, you are trying to run CCS bear-metal test on AM335x Cortex-A8 board. Please refer to the below user guide for details:

Do you mean that you want to load CCS code (out file) to AM3358 processor? If yes, the user guide I have provided explains that.

Gaurav,

1. Update your main.c file with "#include <stdio.h>" header, need for printf. The official example is:

#include <stdio.h>

int main(void) {

printf("Hello_world\n");
return 0;
}

2. Make sure you are connecting to Cortex-A8 target, not to Cortex-M3

I have already included #include<stdio.h> header file and I choose Cortex A8 only.

Gaurav,

Before loading the hello_world_a8.out file, you need to see Cortex-A8 core in your CCS Debug window. Cortex-A8 core should be visible after Launch target configuration. Right click CortexA8 and select connect target.

Make sure you are connecting to Cortex-A8 core.

Gaurav,

For loading and running the Bare Metal example on AM335x Starter Kit TMDSSK3358, you need only CCS to be installed, no SDK is needed.

Just make sure you are using the embedded XDS100v2 JTAG emulator. You can also refer to the below user guide steps:

software-dl.ti.com/.../index_how_to_guides.html

You can skip the steps related to SDK RTOS and do only the CCS/JTAG steps. You need to select SK_AM3358 in board menu.

You can open new e2e thread regarding this new issue. You can post in Processors forum. Please provide details about what SW you are using and exact steps to reproduce the issue.

AM335x UART linux driver is located at:

linux-4.x/drivers/tty/serial/8250/8250_omap.c

linux-4.x/drivers/tty/serial/omap-serial.c
