RTOS/TDA2SX: TDA2xx DDR3 is Obsolete, suggest me options to replace RAM

Part Number: TDA2SX

Tool/software: TI-RTOS

Hi,

I am planning to make custom board with TDA2xx SOC and 1GB DDR3 "MT41K512M16".
But, DDR3 is Obsolete, so i want to replace the DDR3.

1) Suggest me the similar DDR3 with same TDA2xx source.
2) Instead of 1GB DDR3 MT41K512M16 (x4), if i plan to go with 512MB DDR3 MT41K512M8 (x8).
If we change this IC, is there any change in software source has to do ?

Could you please help me, Where i need to change the source for above options.

  • Hi,

For #1, have you contacted the memory vendor to identify a compatible replacement with your current part number? The memory vendor may no longer offer the exact part number you have if they offer a similar density / width memory that has improved speed grade/ temperature range. I would recommend checking with the memory vendor for a compatible density / width memory first, as switching to x8 width memories would have a greater impact to the schematic / layout of the current design.

For #2, there are some timing parameters that are different based on the memory density size. The number of rows / columns might also change. You would need to use the tool below to set the register values.
