EVMK2H: How to connect two EVMK2H board for PCIe example?

Hi there,

I am trying to run the PCIe example included with the processor SDK for the K2H EVM. I have two EVMK2H demo boards, and two of the RTM Break-out cards for the Keystone II EVM. Once I have built and loaded the PCIe demo on each board, how do I connect the two boards together physically so they can talk over PCIe?

I see from the Advantech documentation for the demo board, that two PCIe lanes connect directly to the AMC edge connector. Page 29 here: http://wfcache.advantech.com/www/support/TI-EVM/download/XTCIEVMK2X_Technical_Reference_Manual_Rev1_0.pdf

Do I need a double-sided female AMC connector?

Do I need an AMC to PCIe Adapter Card, like the following: http://www.ti.com/tool/TMDXEVMPCI#0

Or can I somehow make use of the RTM break-out card that we have already bought?

Please advise as to how to proceed. The PCIe example in the SDK simply says "Connect the two boards together" but does not state how.

This is described in Processor SDK RTOS Software developers guide:

"Connect two like C66x/K2x (except K2G, see previous row) EVMs using an AMC breakout card. For K2L, it is necessary to configure the mux via the BMC console with “interface_muxs el pcie” command. Projects available for A15 and/or C66 as present in each device."

You need the dual AMC break out card:

Well, I figured out that I needed an AMC connector by reading the Advantec documentation. But where on earth am I supposed to find the dual AMC break out card? The last mention I see of them online is in 2013. It's 2019. 6 years. Is there a secret stash in a secret warehouse that I'm not aware of? Even if I'd want to buy them, I can't see where. And I find it ridiculous that the examples shipped with the DSP require hardware that is not available anymore.

Please point me to where we can by a dual AMC break out card and I'd be more than happy to buy it.

Hi Andre,
We don't use a dual breakout card for testing. Each EVM would be connected to a breakout card and these cards would be connected together with SMA cables. There are third parties that make breakout cards. The one we used was the Silicon Turnkey Express AMC SMA Ultra 9000.
