We are developing a new product using AM5728, I have few queries:

1. What is the max size of QSPI supported on AM5728?

2. If i want to use both NOR and EMMC can it be done?

3. QSPI can be used as the booting memory also or not?

Hi,

1. section 24.5.4.1.2 of the AM572x TRM Rev. K states that 1 to 4 address bytes, which correspond to the first address supplied, are issued.
2. Yes.
3. Yes QSPI boot is supported.

Hello Biser

1. How can i connect NOR and EMMC both as Pin Mux tool is giving error on pins.
2. Also one more question I want to run GMAC1 at 1.8V so it can be done by supplying VDDSHV1 with 1.8V, or do we need to change something else also?

1. What type of NOR - parallel or serial? Parallel NOR should be connected to the GPMC interface, serial - to SPI or QSPI. eMMC should be connected to MMC2 if you want to boot from it.
2. Powering VDDSHV1 from 1.8V will operate all I/O pins supplied from this rail at 1.8V.

We are using x16 Parallel Nor flash, so when using Pin mux tool its is giving error at MMC2 pins.

2. Powering VDDSHV1 from 1.8V will operate all I/O pins supplied from this rail at 1.8V.----OK But GMAC can work on 1.8V?

1. You will need to use multiplexed x16 NOR to avoid the pin conflict.

You will need an external address latch to demultiplex the address, driven by the GPMC_ALE signal. There are also NOR memories on the market, that have this address latch built-in.

While connecting NOR in muxed mode, i need one more input:
We are using 1Gb parallel NOR with A0-A25 Address line and D0-D16 data lines, so will Adress A0 will not be used in Muxed mode , as mentioned in datasheet page 121.Have confusion regarding this.
