How does the DM365 support S/PDIF?

On the front page of the DM365 data sheet (SPRS457–MARCH 2009) it says that the McBSP interface supports "S/PDIF via Software". In our application I want to receive and transmit 8-channel digital audio via an S/PDIF interface. I have not found any other references to this mode and I would like to understand how to implement S/PDIF on the McBSP interface.

Or if there is another way to support S/PDIF with one of the other DM365 interfaces I am open to suggestions.

The McBSP is a fine interface to use, and this is certainly possible, I will have to check around internally to see what we have in regards to collateral/software for implementing SPDIF.

Have you been able to find some more details on this. I would like to understand both the hardware and software configuration. Any examples would be appreciated.

I have the same problem. On which IO pins should I connect S/PIDIF?

Is it newer mind? Could you please be kind to clarify this topic.

Hi Dragan,

I first need some clarification. Are you trying to connect to the S/PDIF or just an I2S devices? If S/PDIF, I am not aware of any SW that we implemented but I can further check other groups within TI and let you know. If it is an I2S, I think we have McBSP drivers supporting interfacing with I2S device.
