Could you help us please with our customer's question:
What chip can you recommend for stereo camera?
The customer needs simultaneous processing of the two video streams.
Currently there are 2 pcs of TMS320DM6435ZWT5 in their camera(one for each stream). But in new design they need more perfomance and they want to implement it on one chip.
So they bought and tested 2 EVMs, for AM5728 and AM5718. Tests result:
The customer using Open CV algorithm.
Open CV works fast with Cortex cores but DSP cores are not used.
If DSP cores used through Open GL, then it has perfomance losing.
AM5728 - has very good perfomance, but it gets very hot.
AM5718 - not best perfomance, less heating.
So AM5728 could be best solution for them if it didnt heat up so much. The camera has a closed case protected from dust, so they cant implement active cooling system.
The passive cooling makes design very expensive and It complicates the fabrication process.
Do we have chip which will have same perfomance as AM5728 for their application, but will not heat up so much?
Also it should have EVM with possibility of connection of 2 graphic sensors.
