I'm a newer to TIDL (TI's Deep Learning Library on AM5749).

And I'm confused about why should I need to transform the model from TensorFlow/Caffee to TIDL format?

Why TI cannot support TensorFlow/Caffee directly on board?

    Hi,

    The TIDL is inference only engine. It doesn't support running entire training framework natively on the processor. The graph represnetation output from the training framework needs to be translated in intermediate representation (IR) format that can be understood by the inference engine ( Converting the trained models into IR format is quite common practice in the industry). This is achieved using the TIDL import tool. Import tool does optimization such as layer fusion and also quantize weights into 4-12 bit accuracy.
