TMS320C6652: Is LM1001 necessary

Part Number: TMS320C6652
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM10011, LM10010

According to datasheet, TMS320C6652CZH6 can reduct power consumption by ushing LM1001(SmartReflex technology)

Can LM1001 be remobed if  we have enough power supply and heat dissipation system?

  • Hi,

Since SmartReflex is required when designing a TMS320C6652 board, you need to have a SR compliant pmic. The Hardware Design Guide for Keystone Devices (www.ti.com/.../sprabi2d.pdf) provides two options:
    1. LM10011 and Analog Controller Solutions
    2. UCD92xx Digital Controller Solutions

You need to implement one of these solutions.

  • Thanks for your reply. Your advice is very useful.

I understand SR compliant pimc is necessay.

By the way I've found LM10010.

I think the main defference between LM10010 and LM10011 is accuracy of IDAC_OUT,  when they are used for TMS320C6652.
    *LM10011 is ±1.25% / LM10011 is 2% @full scale.

    TMS320C6652 SR core voltage spec requires  SRVnom× 0.95 - SRVnom × 1.05 (V)

Can I use LM10010 if  i can fulfill SR voltage spec?

Yes, if you can match the recommended operating conditions for the core voltages (as described in the datasheet) and the SR voltage spec.

  • User,

The LM10011 superceded the LM10010.  This is because the LM10010 does not control the current per VID code as closely as desired.  This erodes the accuracy of the AVS power supply implemented.  Please use LM10011 instead of the LM10010.  It is a drop-in replacement.
