AM4378: DDR performance

This is a basic question, but I'm not clear, appreciate the answer to this question from TI expert in advance.

one 64 bit CPU connect to DDR, I see there are various combination. the CPU can connect to 4 pcs 16bit DDR,  the CPU also can connect to 2 pcs 16 bit DDR.

my question is how to evaluate the performance when the CPU connect to 4 pcs 16bit  DDR and 2 pcs 16bit DDR. or even 1 pcs 16 bit DDR.

currently, a previous design is one 64 bit CPU connected 4 pcs 16 bit DDR3. but the boss want to cost down, so he want to see if 2 pcs 16 bit DDR can also support current OS. the intuitive impression is the performance of the Produce should not be impacted when reduce the amount of the DDR3.

For a new project , what's the factor  I should to take into consideration  to evaluate this issue. how many DDR is enough for my new project.
