problems with DM355IPNC-VCA1

Hello, has anyone had any success with the "video analytics" part of this reference design ?

For us, it keeps crashing in xvidcore.dll if the scene is bright and has a lot of detail (like trees). The crash happens so fast that it is impossible to define a video analytics rule

It does not crash when the scene is dark or if detail is reduced by using one of the VGA resolution modes, however it then still doesn't perform any of the intelligent video analytics tasks.

ZOT does not respond to emails. Did TI check this reference design before advertising it ?

  • New problem today: Totally black screen. Wonder if the 2A license expired ?

  • I am not too familiar with ZOT or the video analytics software you are referring to; is this a software library provided by ZOT?

What I can do is investigate what our relationship is with ZOT and see if we can establish a better support mode; to be honest, there is nothing stopping a company from building reference design with our parts and marketing it themselves without our involvement or knowledge.  Therefore, the first thing we need to investigate is what is our relationship with ZOT, if any, and move forward from there.  In the mean time, if this software was provided by ZOT, I would continue to try to ping them for support.

  • Hello Juan, we're referring to the TI part number DM355IPNC-VCA1 which is advertised on the TI IP camera reference design page. The video analytics is one of the functions of this reference design. ZOT is the company that apparently designed this in collaboration with TI. At the moment we're still in the position where this design does not work right out of the box, even with all the latest updates applied. According to the company it works for other customers but we cannot figure out why the video analytics always crashes for us. We tried XP and Vista, different computers, different routers, even computers set up totally from scratch and the result is always the same. It works for regular video like the other IPNC reference designs but the video analytics part of it always crashes.

So we're trying to find out who the TI contact person is for this IPNC-VCA1 reference design, and whether anyone at TI or elsewhere has ever had the video analytics working, and maybe some background about the environment where it worked.

  • We are still looking into the matter, it has been slow progress in finding the right person for this, I apologize for the delay.
