TMS320C6713B: Warning message when linking C671x DSPLIB

Guru 15520 points

Part Number: TMS320C6713B

Hi,

My customer has a few questions about C6713B.

They have mass-produced products which using C6713B.
Now, they need to modify the software of C6713B.

When they was designing this product, they were using CCSv3.3
and their CCS project used C67x DSPLIB.
It is old environment. So,they are trying to import their CCS project to CCSv6.
But when they bulid the project in CCSv6 using CGTv7.4.24, following warning message appeared:
*********************************************
warning #16002-D: build attribute vendor section TI missing in
   "C:/ti/dsplib_c67x_1.00/c6700/dsplib/lib/dsp67x.lib<DSPF_sp_mat_mul_cplx.obj
   >": compatibility cannot be determined
*********************************************

Q1.Can they ignore above warning message?

Q2.In TI web site, it seems the download link of C671x DSPLIB have been disappeared.
Is it possible to obtain C671x DSPLIB which can be used in CCSv6?

best regards,
g.f.

  • Hello g.f.,

    1. This error means that the library was built with an older tool set than the application it is being linked into. This is a fairly old lib so I am not sure if it is compatible with the newer compiler tools. Older tools did not define this attribute so the tool set treats it as compatible but warns the user that they're on their own. If you have not detected any bugs using the library then it is probably safe to use, but ultimately it is up to the customer to make this decision. If you want to suppress this warning you can use the linker option --diag_suppress=16002.

    2. I'm working to have this link go back up, but it may take a few days. I've attached my local copy you can use in the meantime.

  • G.F,

Please point your customer to the guidance provided by our Compiler team around this issue in the E2E link provided below:
    e2e.ti.com/.../621504

Since the software is part of a mass produced product using C6713, the customer may need to evaluate whether to migrate to the newer compiler or stick with the original version used for the product. While CCS provides a default version available on installation, users have the option to change the compiler version by downloading a version that they prefer for the project and then adding the install path so CCS can recognize the version installed.

All compiler versions currently supported since 2Q2011 and the defects associate with them are archived here:
    software-dl.ti.com/.../download.htm

There is no new release planned for C67x DSPLIB for CCSv6. We have a only migrated projects in DSPLIB for C674x and C66x and C64x+ devices to CCSv6 or later as they are the current generation of DSP devices that we are supporting. Your customer can choose to refer to CCS projects in those libraries for reference if required.

    Rahul
  • Hi Sahin and Rahul,

    Thank you for the reply.
    I understood.

I will point my customer to the guidance which you attached.

    g.f.
