DM365 Power saving mode

Hi,

I want to know whether DM365 already has Linux support for low-power mode. I looked at documents of TMS320DM36x Digital Media System-on-Chip (DMSoC) ARM Subsystem and TMS320DM36x Digital Media System-on-Chip (DMSoC) Power Management and Real-Time Clock Subsystem (PRTCSS).

But it is still not clear to me. And what  values should be for the power consumption under different modes?

Thanks a lot.

  • Yes same question for me. We have an application which must goes idle when no activity is detected.

Does the DM365 LSP supports the DM365 low consumption modes ?

    Thanks for your answers.

  • we have tested low power modes internally and found some hardware mods were required; there is another thread about getting PRTCSS module working for real time clock that is related to the power modes (both controlled by PRTCSS module) and outlines some of the required hardware changes.

  • Thank you Juan for the valuable link.

It deals with hardware mainly. My question is more related to linux  support of such power modes. Are these modes properly supported by this OS ?

    Thanks a lot

  • Reda,

My comments in the other thread (copied below for your convenience) regarding the software still apply

"That said, from a software point of view, at the time we released the latest DM365 DVSDK, our software team did not have all the information necessary to incorporate the correct RTC support; therefore our current Linux LSP does not support RTC; future LSPs which are bing co-developed with Ridge-Run (one of our third parties) should have RTC support.  I am seeing if we can pull more detailed information into a wiki article, but just thought I would share what I know thus far."

  • This reply addresses the RTC issue. However, the basic question was related to power management support in Linux for DM365. Is this support available? Can you provide some application notes or pointer to implement power management for DM36x processors.

  • Suhas,

I will move your follow up post to the Linux forum of this device so the correct audience can respond, this is a Hardware/Silicon forum.

Your followup question for LInux forum:

"This reply addresses the RTC issue. However, the basic question was related to power management support in Linux for DM365. Is this support available? Can you provide some application notes or pointer to implement power management for DM36x processors."

    regards,
