Connecting multiple image sensors to DM365

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TVP5158

Hello,

We are working on a project that requires multiple image sensors to be connected to the DM365.  We would like to be able to stream the video from these two sensors over the network, or record them.

We are trying to figure out the best method to combine the image data for processing by the VPFE of the DM365.  Is there any app notes, or info on the best method to input multi-channel video data to the DM365?  Any suggestions on the best 'glue logic' implementation between the sensors and the part?  In what format does the TVP5158 decoder multiplex data out to the DM365?

Regards,

Trevor

  • In general you would need some sort of video multiplexer that is working either on an alternating frame basis or a alternating line basis, the frame by frame method is likely the simplest to deal with but will require significant external memory to hold frame buffers for both sources. This would typically be handled with a FPGA that is attached to the VPFE of the DM365, however I do not know of any reference designs for multiple image sensors.

Unfortunately the TVP5158 is still not published on our website so information is somewhat limited, hopefully the documentation for it will be available soon that will explain the data format it is providing, in the mean time you may want to work with your local TI contact to see if you can obtain the information.
