AM4372: Simplified power sequencing

Guru 10085 points
Part Number: AM4372
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65218,

Sitara support Team,

I would like to make sure about the Simplified Power Sequencing.

Q1. As described "Figure 5-8. " in the datasheet,
Is there no problem to use TPS65218D0RSL if 1.8V is set at any one of VDDSHVx?
Because our customer can set 1.8V to only VDDSHV5.

Q2. VDDSHV5 is described "supply voltage range for the CLKOUT voltage domain"
Is VDDSHV5 the power source with only D24 pin and C24 pin?
Or is there any other possibility of using this power source internally?

Best regards,
Kanae

  • Hi,

Simplified power sequencing by definition presumes that the power supply does NOT have a 1.8V power source. As stated here:  this use case is NOT supported with TPS65218.

    Q1: See for proper connections.

Q2: VDDSHV5 power must be provided on AM437x pin F22. C24 and D24 are CLKOUt[2:1] I/O pins when pinmuxed in Mode 3. They are both supplied from VDDSHV5 and there is no way to change that.

  • Hi Biser,

    Thank you for your reply.
    My questions made you confused.
    Please forget "Simplified Power Sequencing",
    sorry about that.

My customer would like to use TPS65218D0RSL for AM4372,
but they can set 1.8V from LDO1 to only VDDSHV5
and the other all VDDSHVx domains are set 3.3V.
    Is there no problem?

Their design is that VDDSHV5 power is provided on AM437x pin F22.
However C24 and D24 on AM473x pins that are setting mode3 are opend,
because my customer does not need the pins.
    Is this usage possible?
Or C24 and D24 on AM473x pins must be connected to VDDSHV5?

    Best regards,
    Kanae

    No problem here.

    Yes, no problem.

    Leave them unconnected.
