Flashing UBoot and UBL

Can I assume you are using the serial utility found at: http://wiki.davincidsp.com/index.php?title=Serial_Boot_and_Flash_Loading_Utility (or a modified version of it for your NAND device if necessary)?

If so, did you erase nand first; I have tried this on my DM355 EVM sucessfully (see following post http://community.ti.com/forums/p/2717/10488.aspx#10488 )

So basically what is happening is exactly like what was in that previous post.  But there is no fix provided there.  I followed those 7 steps but when I boot again, it just sits there, there is no response.  What do I have to do to get it to show a response.

 Am I writing to the wrong addresses?  I have followed the steps exactly, and I am using the same DM355 EVM Board, and I am still having all these problems.

can you try adding a little pressure with your finger on the NAND flash socket.  We have had previous reports as noted on some forum posts that the sockets appear to be faulty on some boards and sometimes adding a little pressure on the socket seems to fix things.

I applied pressure and tried to run the program, but still getting nothing. :(

After looking at the datasheets of the MT29F16G08FAA which is shipped with the DM355 EVM Board but now is obselete so the recommended part was MT29F16G08FAA which actually has a page size of 256 K.  What do I need to change on the sfh_DM35x.exe side to get it to download properly?

If you are using a different NAND part, then you should confirm not only compatibility with serial utility, but also UBL, U-boot, and uImage.  You may not need to change anything if the characteristic are the same, but if timing or page size... is different, you may need to change these software components.  Fortunately, you have the source code for all these software components.

I am trying to use the NAND Flash MT29F16G08DAAWP in the kit DM355 DVEVM because the part MT29F16G08FAA is not possible to find. I looked in the datasheet about the diference between this parts (MT29F16G08DAAWP and MT29F16G08FAA).

This parts have the same page size, Block size and Plane size. The numbers of the CE and R/B# is the same too and is 2. The diference I saw is in the number of the DIE. Do it make any diference in the steps and operation?

I believe the important parameters here are page size and block size; perhaps another important one is the number of total blocks, are these the same on both parts?
