720p 30fps capturing problems on DM355EVM

The capture and display interfaces are able to manage 720p at 60fps, however you will not be able to do much processing on that rate of video, so to start I am wondering if this is a limitation of the actual capture interface or of an algorithm you have on the ARM that is only able to process 19fps? Is the FPGA actually providing a vertical sync rate that is higher than 19fps?

After testing for a whole afternoon ^_^ , here are some results :

1. Ipipe sample demo in DVSDK 1.3.x supports up to 16.7fps 720p capture. Modified CaptureFrame and DoIpipe with new code included in DVSDK 2,   capture rate goes up to 29fps ^_^

2. u-boot loader in DVSDK 1.3.x/psp/bin/dm355 can not boot DM355EVM after flashing, do not know why. Using u-boot loader in "DM35x_FlashAndBootUtils_1_50\DM35x\CCS\UBL\UBL_DM35x_NAND.bin" instead to restore broken DM355EVM  successfully.

I will go through sample code in DVSDK 2 , those new written codes seem better than 1.3.x :)

To Bernie: I am sure FPGA Vsync output is far more higher than 19fps...

This is great feedback; as bernie pointed out the video port does support higher refresh rates, but the overall system performance will depend on what else is going on in the system; the wiki article will hopefully help you navigate thru some of the system scenerios and give you a better feel for what type of activities your system should be able to handle while capturing or displaying 720p.

I believe what is slowing you down is the IPIPE, if you were just dumping the data into the memory directly than you should be able to hit a much higher frame rate, the IPIPE has a more limited bandwidth bottleneck than the rest of the capture interface, I am glad to hear that the newer demo code is working more efficiently though.

As Bernie said, different configurations of IPIPE parameters may cause huge difference of operating speed.
