Linux/AM3354: Yocto build fails on TIDL import

I have of course followed the host configuration described in the user guide. this part is in order on my host machine.

I suspected the issue with the host configuration of protoc and protobuf libraries in particular and tried installing and uninstalling both the latest (3.8) and the 3.2.0rc as mentioned in another post (https://e2e.ti.com/support/processors/f/791/p/808664/3003956?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch&keymatch=protobuf#pi320966=4)

I followed instructions here: https://github.com/protocolbuffers/protobuf/blob/master/src/README.md.

This did not help. Possibly they need to be installed in a non-default location? I would greatly appreciate you checking the functional build machine for location and version of the protoc and protobuf libraries

Can you try to build this particular nativesdk-tidl-import package on another host computer? I can build it on my computer with no issues.

I am going to , hopefully next week. In the meantime - can you check on your machine the version and the location of the libraries?

These are the by default installed libprotobuf packages on my system. libprotobuf10 and libprotobuf-dev version is 3.0.0-9

$ dpkg --get-selections | grep libproto
libprotobuf-c1:amd64                install
libprotobuf-dev:amd64                install
libprotobuf-lite10:amd64            install
libprotobuf10:amd64                install
libprotobuf8:amd64                deinstall

I do not have protoc or anything additionally installed on my default Ubuntu system.

I am running on Ubuntu 14.04 which seems to have an earlier version of libprotobuf - see below. is your system 18.04? I tried installing libprotobuf-c1 from Debian package repository (compatible with Ubuntu 14.04 version) but ran into bunch of issues. Could you verify if our SDK yocto build indeed requires newer version of libprotobuf than the one available in Ubuntu 14.04 package repo?

The issue is caused by /home/root1/michael/tisdk/build/arago-tmp-external-linaro-toolchain/work/x86_64-nativesdk-arago-linux/nativesdk-tidl-import/01.01.00.00-r0/recipe-sysroot-native/usr/lib/libprotobuf.a, but we need to find out why.

I am in the process of getting access to TI Ubuntu 18.04. I will post my observations here.

Thank you very much for the confirmation. I am still in the process of getting access to newer Ubuntu to setup my own build but thanks to your test we can consider this thread closed.
