Hi Team,

As a part of project we need to bring up ethernet ip slave in beagelebone black.

We have flashed linux into eMMC. And it is booting from there.

Unfortunatly SD card booting is not working please refer to this thread.

Please walk me through the steps to build and execute ethernet/ip slave in beaglebone black.

Hi,

The EtherNet/IP software provided by TI requires the use of PRU-ICSS Ethernet hardware, which is not available on Beaglebone Black. You will need TMDSICE3359 with TI-RTOS to run this software.

Thank you for your reply.

While going to datasheet of Beaglebeone, I came across with presence of 1 PRU-ICSS with 32 bit microcontroller.

1.Then why could not run ethernet IP application ?

2. When I download ethernet / ip adapter from TI website. PRU- Firmware is in object format. How can I get source code.

3. If I need to multiple with different protocols how can I do?

Beaglebone Black does not have the external components and connections for PRU Ethernet. You need the PRU MII interface to be exposed and connected to a PHY, and the additional connctions to the RJ-45 port. Beaglebone Black has a single PHY connected to first CPSW port.

Hi Vishnu, adding to Biser points. Our PRU-ICSS Ethernet/IP firmware is only delivered as a binary, not source code. Current PRU-ICSS Ethernet/IP works on top of TI-RTOS PSDK (we don't have a linux version).

I have one more doubt.

We need to run profinet slave also in the board. Will it support linux ? It's firmware is also delivered in binary ?

Hi Vishnu, PRU-ICSS Profinet slave also runs on TI-RTOS PSDK.

Similar to Ethernet/IP case, for Profinet PRU-ICSS firmware is distributed as a binary.
