Hello.
For a long time I worked with VSDK305 and after the release of VSDK307 I found MPEG4 Encode link in release notes, which is interesting for me. I want to add it to a current VSDK305 project, because moving the whole project to VSDK307 seems not worth it for now.
I have successfully added link to VSDK305 and created a usecase, but appimage with it crushes right at the moment of MPEG4 plugin initialization on DSP.
What should I change to make it start working? I added mem_segment_definition_512mb.xs from VSDK307 to VSDK305 , because i think that some kind of memory problem causes the crashes, but i didn't see any differences. Should I also add the ti-cgt-c6000_8.2.4 compiler from VSDK307 or smth else?

Hi,

Can you share the log.

In TI we have only tested this with cgt 8.2.4.

But i hope it should work with previous versions of toolchain also.

You have to add below line in DSP1.cfg file for your respective platform.

Program.sectMap[".const:MP4VENC_TI_dSect1"] = "DSP1_DATA_MEM";

Hello, thanks for help.

I added the line you provided and its solve my problem. I can load the usecase now, but I get the XDC error. I also have tried changing the C6000_7.4.2 compiler to a c6000_8.2.4 but it doesnt help.

The crash happens in the EncoderTest_priv.c file of the usecase, at

Int32 EncoderTest_Create(EncoderTestObj *pObj, Void *appObj) function.

The line is

status = System_linkCreate(pObj->encDspLinkID, &pObj->encDspPrm, sizeof(pObj->encDspPrm));

So far I have done this:

1. Edited mem_segment_definition_512mb.xs to make it similar to vsdk307 version.

2. Added Program.sectMap[".const:MP4VENC_TI_dSect1"] = "DSP1_DATA_MEM"; line to DSP1.cfg.

3. Changed compiler C6000_7.4.2 to ti-cgt-c6000_8.2.4 version and edited the line at tools_path.mk to adjust changes.

Hi,

You need to connect a debugger and check inside encoder link code where exactly its failing.

First try with a simpler usecase as given in 3.7 release.

Hello. It seems like I bypass the IERR=0x8 by editing most of the files at vsdk305 to adjust vsdk307.
After that I got the IERR=0x1, "Instruction fetch exception".
I still cannot bypass the System_linkCreate of the EncoderLink.
I have also checked register values using the debug probe and ccs.
Can you please make this clear -
Can I make a conclusion that my code crashes because I run into the reserved memory sector [0x0;0x18] during the initialization of the link (ccs screenshot)? Or security violation means that debugger cannot reach this area?
If I understand it right, the NSP register contains the address at which the invalid code was fetched. And whats about pc/sp registers at E_exceptionMax?

Hi,

You have to load the symbol and then check.

where it is stuck?

Have you created a simpler usecase as in 3.7.

Can you install 3.7 and try from there whether that works for you or not.

The issue was resolved by delaying the initialization of mpeg4 encoder link.
