Linux/DRA77P: Unable implement boot optimization

Hi,

I have been trying to implement boot optimization by following the guide

www.ti.com/lit/an/sprac82/sprac82.pdf

I was successful in implementing it in ti-processor-sdk-linux-automotive-dra7xx-evm-5_00_00_01 kernel version 4.4. Placed MLO, u-boot.img, uImage and dra76-evm.dtb in qspi and the root filesystem in eMMC.

But now when I tried the same implementation in Kernel version 4.14, I am unable to apply the patches mentioned in the above guide since some files where the patch is to be applied are missing and many changes are observed in the files where changes are required,

What changes are really needed to be followed, in order to make qspi as the boot partition and root partition as eMMC ?

I have already implemented this with prev version, but here I am unable to implement it.

The patch set was generated against 4.4 kernel, we havent spent time trying to port these on top of kernel 4.14 -hence do not have a staright forward answer.

You will need to review the patch set and selective cherry-pick necessary changes and address any differences

Hi,

Can you suggest any tweaks required?

Are there any specific modifications required at u-boot side, inorder to boot up from qspi ?

I have applied the same bootargs in kernel command line to boot the filesystem (as prev. case) from eMMC.

It is hard to pin-point the exact changes without actually trying this out against 4.14.

Have you tried porting the patches, can you outline the steps tried out and the issues faced

Hi Sriram,

I was able to implement the boot from qspi.

Proper usage of kernel cmdline enabled me to get the required working (Giving the correct name of the rootfs partition i.e eMMC ).
