Linux/AM1808: AM1808 Linux Boot from SDCard?

Hi .

#1. I have the AM1808 EVM now (LogicPD version).

#5. Can you tell us if we can use the AM3/4/5/6 SDK "Create_SDcard.sh" to make a boot-able SD card for AM1808?

#6. We have read the EVM user guide, and the DIP switch 7 seems have no supporting for SD EMMC boot.

The default is SPI flash boot, so, I assume the Boot code will copy the SD onto SPI flash, right?

BTW, I always get this Boot log:

booting with TI UBL

Device OPP (456MHz, 1.3V)SD/MMC Boot failed.

How to solve it?

Hi Champs:

I make it short, do yo have a convenient script to allow me to create the boot SD card?

To use the AM3/4/5/6 create_sdcard.sh won't make it work :(.

Hi Rio,

You can find create-sdcard.sh script that is applicable to AM18x device in the latest AM18x EZSDK:

The script is available in <SDK INSTALL DIR>/bin/

Hi Pavel:

May you help to share the boot/rootfs contain onto the TI Box?

I'm sure my AM1808 EVM is okay due to the MicroSoft CE OS runs well.

So, it should be some of the boot file is not config the OPP correct or something.

BTW, how to use the Ethernet boot?

Please remove your SD card and try again. If you still have the same error, then something is wrong with your SD card setup. Have you verify you have all the expected files (MLO, u-boot, etc) populated on the SD card? Check also if you have some error mesage during the SD card creating with the script.

Check also AM180x EVM Quick Start Guide (from the link below), make sure you have follow steps 4,7,8,9,10 and 11

Check also below e2e threads which discuss the same issue and follow the hints there.

Hi Pavel:

I know the root cause now.

The key point is that we need to use the AIS tool to erase the SPI flash contain. (Wrong Config inside).

Then, we need to use the AIS tool to flash the U-boot onto SPI flash.

Thus, the problem will be gone.
