TMDXIDK5718: Lauterbach Trace32 connection

Part Number: TMDXIDK5718

Hi,

I am using Lauterbach Trace 32 for Nucleus RTOS debugging on AM5718IDK.

As Trace 32 doesn't the have C-TI 20 pin connector, I made a small connector from 20 pin ARM JTAG to CTI 20 pin connector and connected it on J18 20-pin header on AM5718IDK.

I want to use J18 20 pin connector for debugging and J19 for serial console, but when I am connecting both debugger is going on reset.

If I want to use this debugger and serial console(J19) is any jumper settings are required and could you please share the 20 pin ARM JTAG to C-TI 20 pin connector mapping?

Regards,

Naveen.

  • Hi,

Here is a schematic of a third-party adapter board. Please note that this has not been tested by TI.

  • Hi Biser,

Below are my queries, could you please answer them:

    1. I have made the adapter as per the schematics, I am able to load the code. But when I am trying to access the serial console using J19 connector, debugger is closing unexpectedly. Is there any jumper settings available for selecting JTAG and XDS100V2 emulator or disabling XDS100V2 emulation over J19 connector and use only serial console on J19?

    2. What will happen if we connect both J18(For JTAG) and J19(For XDS100V2 and Serial Console) connections at the same time?

    3. What should be the values of EMU0 and EMU1 jumper settings, should they connect to ground or left open. If left opened what will happen?

    Regards,

    Naveen.

  • Hi Naveen,

    1) On the connection for your emulator pod pin 10 should be grounded or connected to pins 8 and 12. Once the emulator is plugged in it will disable the output enables for the buffer that drives the signals from the XDS100. This will isolate the XDS100 from the AM571x allowing the emulator pod to control the JTAG.

    2) If the ground is present on pin 10 the emulator pod should take precedence and the XDS100 will be disconnected. If pin 10 is not grounded there could be contention.

    3) In normal operation the EMU pins are left open and pulled high on the board.

    Regards, Bill
