AM5718: TPS6590379 watchdog timer

Part Number: AM5718
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS659037,

Hi,

As I understand if I try to use watchdog timer (WDT) in TPS659037 as the watchdog timer for AM5718 then if the time out occurs then after applying reset does TPS659037 release reset or will it remain in reset condition??

1. NRESWARM is connected to AM5718 RESETOUT so will it release PORZ

2. Is there support in Linux for using WDT in TPS659037??

  • Hi,

Regarding your second question: No, there is no support for WDT in TPS659037 in linux, you have to add this yourself.

As for the first question, let me check that with the TPS datasheet and I will update.

    Best Regards,
    Yordan

  • Hi,

See Section 5.4.8 Warm Reset of the TPS datasheet:
"During a warm reset, the OFF2ACT sequence is executed regardless of the actual state (ACTIVE, SLEEP) and the TPS659037 device returns to or remains in the ACTIVE state. Resources that are not part of the OFF2ACT sequence are not impacted by warm reset and maintain the previous state. Resources that are part of power-up sequence go to ACTIVE mode and the output voltage level is reloaded from OTP or kept in the previous value depending on the WR_S bit in the SMPSx_CTRL register or the LDOx_STRL register."

    Best Regards,
