CCS/AM3358: Serial channels

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I take over the repository which wriiten for TMS320F2837x. There are 5 Serial Channels to be used. The different device use different channel and doesn't interfere with each other. Can AM3358 achieve this goal? How? Please give me detail steps. Thanks

We have no way of knowing what serial channels you are using on the TMS320F2837X. AM3358 has the following serial interfaces:

6 UART ports
2 McSPI ports
2 McASP ports
2 CAN ports
2 USB ports
3 I2C ports

You will find detailed information about these in the AM335x TRM Rev. P, available on the AM3358 product page.

Hi Biser

Is there any limited on number of ports to open on one board or one AM3358? Do they interfere with each other? Thanks

From software perspective there is no limitation, and they do not interfere with each other. From hardware perspective this will depend on the board design, as the processor has a limited number of pins, and all I/O pins have multiple functions, so there may be overlapping. We have a tool for configuring pin functionalities: www.ti.com/.../PINMUXTOOL

Thank you for your reply. I use AM3358 board. There is no serial channel concept on AM3358 as what you said. Is it OK for me to open 5 serial ports for 5 "serial channel" on AM3358? Thanks.
