AM5728: RGMII connection to switch

Hi,

I want to use one RGMII of AM5728 to external switch RGMII and davinci_MDIO to configure switch registers.

I could see cpsw.c ethernet stack in .../drivers/net/ethernet/ti/ and some customer ethernet stacks(Marvell, micrel) in .../drivers/net/ethernet/

Which Ethernet stack to be used for phy-mode RGMII and davinci_MDIO.

Hi,

Sorry, TI does not support use cases, where an external switch is connected to an Ethernet port.

Thanks for the reply. which ethernet stack?, is it the cpsw.c with davinci_mdio driver used for AM5728 GMAC_SW/emac, as I saw many vendors Ethernet stacks in .../drivers/net/ethernet/. May I know those Ethernet stacks(Marvell,Micrel) works with AM5728 GMAC_SW/emac ?.

Hi,

You are correct in that cpsw.c and davinci_mdio.c are the drivers to be used on the AM5728 GMAC. Biser pointed out that TI does not support the integration of external switches on the GMAC interface. That said other customers have successfully integrated with an external switch. Those other drivers mentioned may work with the switch but there is most likely going to be integration step needed so they work with either or both the cpsw.c and davinci_mdio.c drivers.
