Hello TI Experts,

I saw in release notes that you provide example for SMP in new PDK, but i was not able to find it.

Can you give me some instruction how to find and run SMP example from new PDK?

My configuration is:
CCS ver: 9.0.1.00004
PDK - pdk_am65xx_1_0_5 (processor_sdk_rtos_am65xx_6_00_00_07)
AM65x (IDK) - TMDX654IDKEVM
SYSBIOS - 6.75.2.00

I tried to create CCS project and to run SMP with new PDK, but i had the same problem like with old PDK (pdk_am65xx_1_0_3, in which SMP was not supported).

SMP example would help me a lot to understand and to find source of problem, why i am not able to run SMP and to debug.

I followed the description from documents (links are given below) in purpose to see how SMP works and how to implement SMP to my application.

Hi Novica,

There is an E2E post concerning SMP support in AM65xx PRSDK 6.0.0.7 here: https://e2e.ti.com/support/processors/f/791/p/828888/3067839#3067839

To build the A53 UART SMP examples, open a dos prompt and issue the following commands:

> cd <PRSDK install>\pdk_am65xx_1_0_5\packages
> pdksetupenv.bat
> cd ti\drv\uart
> gmake app_clean LIMIT_BOARDS=am65xx_evm
> gmake apps LIMIT_BOARDS=am65xx_evm

The resulting example programs located in:

<PRSDK install>\pdk_am65xx_1_0_5\packages\ti\binary\UART_SMP_TestApp
<PRSDK install>\pdk_am65xx_1_0_5\packages\ti\binary\UART_DMA_SMP_TestApp

I investigated this further by trying to execute the UART_SMP_TestApp & I2C_Eeprom_SMP_TestApp SMP examples in PRSDK 6.0. I found that neither of these examples runs properly. During internal discussion, I was informed this is a bug which has already been discovered. I was also informed there is a bug with the emulation driver package (8.1.0.00007) released with CCS v9 which makes single-stepping SMP mode code impossible. Thus there aren't any working SMP examples in AM65xx PRSDK 6.0.

Fixes for both of these issues should be available in the 4Q PRSDK 6.2 release.

thank you for the infromation and that you care about this topic.

So we will postpone our SMP activities.
Could we come back to you, when PRSDK in Q4 is released to double-check if both issues are fixed?

Hello Frank,

Sorry for delay. Like Ruediger informed you, I was on holidays one week and the last week i was ill, I started to work yesterday.
I read yours instructions how to build A53 UART SMP example (from previous post), and i created example with success.
But when i tried to execute the UART_SMP_TestApp example i had a problem like you did!

For now I will pause with this topic until a new version of the PDK is released.
