AM6546: Differences from AM57x

Part Number: AM6546

Are there major changes between the AM57x and AM65x, or can we expect more or less the same SW environment?

We have an internally developed SW framework for the application layer in the A15 (Linux from TI) and another SW framework for one of the M4s (running TI-RTOS),

which we'd like to reuse as much as possible for the A53s/R5Fs. Especially the IPC parts.

Are there any changes to the McSPI master device?

When will the AM6546 be in production?

  • Hello,

    Thanks for your post.

The SW environment will be very similar, with the biggest changes being driven by the switch from ARM v7 to v8 (64-bit) and a different boot flow. Once booted, the application layer exposed will be very similar.

IPC and SPI are supported by both. You will need to look at the specific aspects you are using to make sure they are supported the same.

I will need to research the current production timeline.

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

AM65x is slated to go to production in 4Q20. I hope this provides the information that you needed.

    Thank you.
