DSP selection

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C6674, TMS320C6678, TMS320C6672, TMS320C6657, TMS320C6748, TMS320C6747, 66AK2H14, 66AK2H12, 66AK2H06, 66AK2E05, 66AK2G12, OMAP-L138, OMAP-L137, AM5728, AM5726

We begin to develop new generation controlling board for laser coding machine. In our previous product, we used FPGA to control laser coding. Now we hope to replace FPGA by TI's DSP because of cost and maintenance. However, we are not familiar with TI's DSPs. We hope to have advice to select suitable DSP which can meet the cost and real-time requirement.

  • Hi,

It depends on what kind of performance do you expect and what peripherals.
You can check the C6000 series:
     higher performance dsps:
        TMS320C6678/TMS320C6674/TMS320C6672

        TMS320C6657

     single core dsps:
        TMS320C6748

        TMS320C6747

The ARM variants of these dsps:
      66AK2H12/66AK2H06/66AK2H14

      66AK2E05

      66AK2G12

      OMAP-L138/OMAP-L137

Even Sitara devices: AM5728, AM5726 etc..

    Best Regards,
