Hi,

In the link http://www.ti.com/lit/an/spracm8/spracm8.pdf mentioned that:

The ROM bootloader reads from the boot medium and begins sequentially executing the AIS commands in the boot image

The last AIS command will jump to the entry point of the executable.

Why there still need to flash bootoader in staterware which acts as an intermediary between the ROM bootloader (RBL) and the application.

Hello,

The ROM bootloader only supports booting the ARM core on OMAP-L138. In order to boot the DSP you will need to use a secondary bootloader such as the Starterware bootloader or SBL in Processor SDK.

Hi,

I have read boot section in psdk developer guide.

When should i use SBL? Is it must be used in multi-core chips? I used tms320c6748 before and i didn't use SBL.

Hello,

Yes that's typically the case. With the C6748 you do not have to use an SBL since it is a single-core device with the DSP as the boot master.

Note, SBL in Processor SDK only supports booting from MMCSD on OMAP-L138/C6748 at the moment, as mentioned here: http://software-dl.ti.com/processor-sdk-rtos/esd/docs/06_00_00_07/rtos/index_Foundational_Components.html?highlight=sbl#omapl137-omapl138-c6748
