Quiang,
The current schedule for C6A816x mass production is slated towards the back half of 2011. However, customers can order pre-production samples and tools to jumpstart with their development today. Documentation and support can also be accessed by visiting the C6A8168 and C6A8167 product folders.
I hope this helps.
Regards,
Sonia
What about the issue related to USB hub interface to USB port? Will this be resolved by back half of 2011?
Regards,
Mahesh Shinde
Mahesh,
Yes, the USB hub issue will be fixed in the rev of the device which will be available in late 2011.

Marc
Marc--can you explain the USB hub issue? We are using a Hub on one the USB Host ports on the DM8165. Is there an issues with both host controllers or hubs or just some? We are planning on using the SMSC2514.
I have not heard of any issues with Spectrum EVM boards and the use of USB hubs. Will DM8165/8 silicon that properly supports USB hubs be available in small quantities for development of our hardware?
Bruce,
Here are the details of this hub issue, which affects both USB controllers. These are found in the device errata.
Advisory 1.1.15 USB Host Mode Cannot Perform Write Operation to TxFunction/TxHubPort/TxHubAdr Controller Addresses
Revisions Affected: 1.1, 1.0
Details: The USB controller does not support devices connected through a hub when operating as USB host. Due to this, writing to the TxHubPort/TxHubAdr results in the write being ignored.
Workaround: There is no workaround for this issue.
One other option is found here: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/DM816x_C6A816x_AM389x_PCIeToUSB
Bruce,
No problem - I'm sorry that you had not heard about this errata item. The latest device documentation, including the errata, is found in the device product folder:

Thanks Marc
What are the chances this will be resolved in the next silicon and please confirm the timing for sample quantities? We are looking at the PCIe option and alternately rolling the dice on a fix from TI.
I am leaning towards the PCIe approach but using the DM8165 Host and Hub is preferred.

Bruce
Bruce,
Our confidence is very high that this issue will be fixed in PG2.0 of this device and samples are expected to be available in early 4Q11.
Regards,
Marc
Would this change also apply to future AM3894 devices, and if so, do you have any idea about the schedule for such? Lack of USB hub connectivity is painful for us and this is the first time I've seen any semi-official word that the Netra series is looking to resolve this limitation.
