AM3517 Power Domains

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3517

I have an AM3517 SOM-M2 board and I would like to achieve minimum sleep power usage.  However, I have encountered some conflicting information about power domains.

The AM35x power management guide at: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/UserGuidePowerMgmtAM35xx states that there are 16 power domains that can be independently turned on and off.  However, the AM3517 Technical Reference Manual section 4.1.2.2 states that independent power domain control is not supported.  Can anyone clarify which is the case?

While I'm here, does anyone know where I can find specific information about steps to obtain minimum power usage on this module?

I appreciate any help that may be provided.  Thanks a lot!

  • Hello,

The description in the TRM is correct. I have corrected the description in the wiki. AM35x supports a single standby mode, so please try the procedure described in the section "Suspend & Resume" in the same wiki if you are using Linux PSP

  • Hi,

Logic PD release their new Wattson software for the AM3517 EVM today which will help you see actual power consumption across all power rails on the CPU and SOM design.  There is an adapter required to connect to the PC available from this website: http://createnewstuff.webs.com/breakoutboardwattson.htm

The Logic PD software is available from here: http://www.logicpd.com/wattson
