TDA44M : GMSL2 to MIPI CSI2 Connection

Hi There

We are going to connect 4CH of AR0233 to EVM like below image, we have no choice using EVM's CSI1 port.

As i know, with FPDLink, it only use 1CH of MIPI CSI2 4 Lane.

It can be supported with EVM SDK ?

  • Hi Hennessy,

Yes, this is possible. The current TDA4x SDK (PSDK RA v06.01.00) demonstrates reception of 4 channels (2 MP) of video via CSI2 RX 0, stitch surround view and display the same.

Yes, one could use the CSI2 RX 1 also, i will have to check on the feasibility on the EVM and driver support in PSDK RA 06.01.00.

    Regards, Sujith

  • Hi Hennessy,

I checked on the driver, reception via CSI2 RX 1 is supported and fusion card can be used to receive on CSI RX 1 interface.

  • Hi Sujith

To make it clear, you mean 2MP 4CH can be handled using CSI RX0 OR CSI RX1 not simultaneously ?

My question is 2MP 4CH can be handled using CSI RX0 AND CSI RX1 at the same time.

The reason why i'm asking is, some GMSL De-serializer(MAX9296) can support only 2CH of camera input.

To support 4CH camera the system should use 2 of MAX9296, CAM1,2 should use CSI RX0 and CAM3,4 should use CSI RX1.

Dose EVM SDK support this usecase ??

    Best Regards

    Hennessy

  • Hi Hennessy,

Yes, simultaneous reception on CSI RX0 and CSI RX1 is possible.

In the SDK (PSDK RA v06.01.00), the driver support it but the OpenVx node supports reception from CSI RX 0. One could update the node to receive from CSI RX 0 & 1 simultaneously
