[TDA4x EVM] System Down Issue

Hello ~!

I am using the latest PSDK 6.1.0(v1.0) and testing example code.

After I choose Auto valet parking example, I tried to test avp example.

But ater about 2 hour, the system is down.

I tried it many time and I can see various problems.

1. Only display is down

2. System freezing

3. After system rest, system freezing

I can see these problems on most of the TDA4EVM.

I classify this problem into below cases

- AVP SW causes memory leak and other various problem

- Thermal or power issue in long time stability test on TDA4EVM

- TDA4EVM HW known issue

Do you know this probelm ( Is it known issue?)

I attached the log(reset case)

I made code including debug print.

Thank you.

  • Hello Mr. Kim,

To eliminate any thermal issue, does the board recover after turning off the board and immediately restarting - Case 1.

Case 2- Turning off the board and then wait for 5 mins and then restart the board.

Memory leaks would not cause the re-boot to get stuck.

We have run the usecase at our end for overnight and weekend and not seen issues at our end.

    Thanks and Regards

    Piyali

  • Hi Piyali

You mean ...is there any thermal issue on TDA4EVM board?

And.. "We have run the usecase at our end for overnight and weekend and not seen issues at our end."

-> Does the usecase that you said mean all usuecases(include Auto valet parking) in PSDK6.1.0 ?

    I teseted below case.

I have run AVP usecase at last week with cooling fan, but I can not see "system down issue"

    (./run_app_tildl_avp.sh)

    Thank you.

  • Hi Mr. Kim,

Yes, We have run the Auto Valet Parking Demo overnight and the weekend at our end on the TDA4x EVM without the cooling fan.

When you shared the earlier logs was that collected with the cooling fan or without the cooling fan? I understand you are running this on the TI EVM and not on your custom board, right?

    Thanks and Regards

    Piyali

  • HI Piyali

I shared the log without cooling fan

and I am running this example on the TI EVM (beta type) only.

I just executed "run_app_tidl_avp.sh" and I didn`t edit app config file.

plz help me and I am waiting for new update.

    Thank you ~!

  • Looking at the log, this looks like v6.0.1 release and not v6.1.0, can you confirm the version used

  • Good Eyes Kedar!

    Hello Mr. Kim

The v6.0 has some stability issues which were fixed in 6.1

  • HI Piyali

    Thank you for your support~!

You are right ^^. The shared log was collected with v6.0.1. But we have tested both v6.0.1 and v6.1.0

When we run PSDK6.0.1 with cooling fan, there is still issue(system down) -> I think this is clear, because you gave me fixed info in v6.0 (ADASVISION-2341)

But, When we run PSDK6.1.0 without cooling fan, we can see still system down issue.

Otherwise when we run PSDK6.1.0 with cooling fan, system is not down.

Before clearing this issue, can you re-check themal issue in view of SW or HW?

Laboratory temperature can affect this issue? -> our aboratory temperature = about 20℃(68℉)

    Thank you~!

  • Hi Mr.Kim,

I will follow up with the team if we have any known issues with thermal. We have not encountered any so far.

    Thanks and Regards

  • Hi  Piyali

Thank you for your support ~!

  • Hi Kim

I see you marked the post as resolved, But we hear from the TI Field team, this issue is still open. Can you please let us know the status?

    Thanks and Regards

    Piyali

  • Hi Piyali

We thought this issue is resolved,

but, we can see the issue a week after the test started

In short, we can see AVP stability issue .

Can you share me what point for ADASVISION-2341 you change ?

    Thank you.

During AVP test, I got the problem "External Abort"

    What does "exception reason=1" mean?

Please check the log below. This is not first time.

  • This looks like the log is from ATF. Can you please share the full logs before this exception?

    Thanks and Regards

  • Hi

    ATF means arm trust firmware??

I am printing pmic temperature using i2c.

Is it(external abort) a problem i2c bus is causing?

Before the exception, the log is bleow

    Thank you.

  • Hi Manwoo

If you do not print the pmic temperature does this issue occur. If not then this does mean that the I2C access seems to be creating an issue in your case. It would help if you could try disabling the PMIC temperature read and see if the issue goes away.

By ATF I mean Arm trusted Firmware.

    Thanks and Regards

    Piyali

  • Hi Manwoo

Were you able to try the experiment of disabling the PMIC temp read and then reproduce this issue?

    Thanks and Regards

    Piyali

  • Hi Manwoo

We haven't heard back from you on this one. Please let us know if you were able to proceed. Please feel free to post any follow up questions on a different thread referring this one, if you find this thread is locked.

    Thanks and Regards
