AM6548: USB3.0 support

Part Number: AM6548

Hi, there,

The Errata http://www.ti.com/lit/er/sprz452c/sprz452c.pdf has an item i2028 — USB3SS: SuperSpeed USB Non-Functional.

Does that mean the USB0 won't support USB3.0 on the current silicon version although the datasheet and almost all the documents say it's supported? will it be supported in the future? Our design requires USB3.0 support.

Thanks,

Charlie,

  • Hello Charlie,

This interface is currently non-supported pending characterization. What this means from a practical standpoint is that until this process is 100% complete there is the possibility that characterization could reveal an issue that would require changes to (or even the complete deprecation of) the interface.

Based on the status of the characterization as I understand it today, I would be very surprised if USB3 was not supported in the device when released. Please understand however, that this doesn't change the current official TI stance of "not supported".

  • Hi DK,

    Got it, thanks

    Charlie,
