EMU0 and EMU1 pins - clarification needed

I have seen numerous discussion about the EMU0 and EMU1 pins.

The TRM is unclear on exactly how they function.

I have looked at the following info:

A) OpenOCD commentary that the configuration of EMU0 and EMU1 has no effect. Source: https://lists.berlios.de/pipermail/openocd-development/2010-November/016991.html

B) Commentary that basically they should both be pulled high. Source: http://e2e.ti.com/support/dsp/omap_applications_processors/f/42/p/30112/105000.aspx

On my custom board I have both grounded, and am curious as to what effect this will have. I have successfully connected an ARM Realview ICE JTAG, have loaded images, stepped through code, etc with no problem.

Can anyone provide more info on EMU0 and EMU1?

Thanks.
