TDA4VM EVM XDS not working after FW upgrade

Hi,

I have CCS 9.2 installed with Emu pack/patch version 8.3.1.00007 and 6.1.0 SDK.

I created a Target Configuration to be used when the A72 is running with Linux, as described in the docs.

Then when I wanted to connect to the C71 DSP it told me that the XDS firmware is out of date and I must update.

So I click yes and wait, then a message comes from CCS that it cannot connect, I shall power cycle my target, so I do that.

After that I still cannot connect, I get his:

Error connecting to the target:
(Error -261 @ 0x0)
Invalid response was received from the XDS110.
(Emulation package 8.3.1.00007)

I can see a USB device with the ID 0451:bef3. I xan update the FW via xdsdfu too and read the device ID.

But for some reason I cannot connect any more.

Hi Jan Hieber,

Are you able to connect to any other cores? Like are you able to load binaries on the R5 cores?

Nope, does not work.

When I try the no boot mode I get this and then in hangs:

Running the board configuration initialization from R5!

Hi Jan,

Did you change the pdkPath in the js file? Can you give the logs from the CIO as well?

What exactly is CIO?

I reinstalled everything to have a clean/fresh start but I cannot try it until monday.

I'll come back here with the result.

Hi Jan,

Thanks for your reply, the console logs you have attached is from the CCS Scripting console. CCS also has another Generic console where you'd see logs from the application running, logs from GEL, etc. You can see a "Quick Access" search bar at the top right corner of CCS. Type 'console' and choose 'Console (General)' from the drop down list. Please give the logs from that as well. What is the state of Cortex M3 when the hang happens?

No sorry, other tasks took over. Have few days training right now.

But I managed to connect to another board (a newer batch I think), which worked more or less.

Actually I don't want to use CCS, I just explore every way to get something working. So maybe we close this as the new board just works.
