TMS320C5545: Boosterpack moving forward?

Part Number: TMS320C5545

Since the C5545 is last-time-buy...what's the next logical place to move to from the C5545 BoosterPack?

I need a low-cost, fast DSP with FFT accelerator and a BLE radio on it, and the BoosterPack seems ideal (not sure if I'm going to use it with the actual LaunchPad or not)...

Also... are there peripheral examples (I'm used to the STMicro ecosystem) so that I can see how to program/use the I2S, I2C, FFT, etc, or am I going to have to hope I can get all the examples I need from the out-of-the-box source code?

  • Hi Thor

Unfortunately there is really nothing from DSP group in this price, power , size, range.

You can look at the c5535 DSP family - it has a dev kit too, but don't think we have anything that natively shows BLE integration that was done with the ULP board.

Note that c5535 product folder says the device is NRND, but it will soon be flipped back to Active.

Support on c5000 devices is limited , so it can be challenging if this is a new development.

Next up, you can look the c6748 or OMAPL138 family- these are c6000 DSP low power/ cost devices (cost is higher than C5K).

Again the dev board will not have a ready to use interface for BLE or any software examples etc.

    Hope this helps some

    Regards

    Mukul
