TDA4VM Boot Flash

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH

Customer would like to know what sysboot boot mode they need to support in order to be able to use Uniflash to load and image through JTAG to flash OSPI-NOR? Do they require being able to put their system in the “No Boot” mode in order to be able to use Uniflash to download images?  FAE noted the Bootmodes found in section 4.1.2 of the TRM, specifically highlighting the no boot option.

  • Yes, you configure the SoC in "No Boot" boot mode, currently, and then load the Uniflash R5 flash binary over JTAG before continuing with the rest of communication over UART (for the Uniflash application on the PC).  The procedure is documented in the latest PSDK-RTOS-AUTO (v6.1.0).  Section 7.1.3.2 in the latest Processor SDK RTOS Automotive documentation goes over the procedure for this -- in order to flash the OSPI device on the board using Uniflash.

There should be support soon for using the "UART boot" mode as well, but we'll need to check with the Uniflash & Processor SDK RTOS team on the timeframe for full support of that method (and for related instructions).
