DRA722: Why does occasional overcharge occur when clearing SRCTL of McASP.

Part Number:

Why does occasional overcharge occur when clearing SRCTL of McASP.

The pic of the left is TXD and analog output is no the right. The position pointed by the red arrow on the left is the overcharge generated when the register SRCTL (McASP) is cleared. Overcharge is sometimes too large, and the right analog output will generate a pop click. This overcharge is sometimes, sometimes not, the chance of appearing is about 1/6.

Question: Why does occasional overcharge occur when clearing SRCTL?

  • Hi,

You can try, instead of clearing the whole register, to keep [3:2] DISMOD = 0x2: Drive on pin is logic low.

This will keep the output low. Otherwise, the transmitter is left in high-impedance state, which may cause random spikes to propagate to DAC and speaker.

    Regards,

    Stan
