AM4379: DCAN triple-sampling error

Hello,

Is triple-sampling supported for the CAN bus on the am4379?

If I try to configure the CAN bus with triple-sampling on, I get an "Operation not supported" message.

$> ip link set can0 type can bitrate 1000000 triple-sampling on
RTNETLINK answers: Operation not supported

Do I miss a package or a kernel configuration to enable this mode?

Beside of that configuration the CAN bus is working fine.

I am using the ti processor sdk 5.2. Additionally I extended/modified the image for my purposes.

$> uname -a
Linux ti-evm 4.14.79-rt47-g28d73230da #1 PREEMPT RT Mon Dec 2 10:13:09 UTC 2019 armv7l GNU/Linux

Hi,

Triple sampling is not supported by the DCAN IP in the AM437x. The DCAN driver in the Linux Kernel released by TI is a community driver that TI did not write. I would say a year ago a Linux community developer noticed that the IP did not support triple sampling and removed the support which really did nothing anyway. The SDK documentation is being corrected to remove this from the example and should be in the next release.
