AM3352: Git.ti.com timeout

Part Number: AM3352

Yocto/bitbake ends to error messages telling that:

linux-ti-staging-rt_4.4.bb: Failure expanding variable SRCPV

fatal: unable to connect to git.ti.com:

This happens nearly always. Problem has been active several days but not before.

This is highly annoying. Recipe parsing proceeds up to 97% then it stays there for pretty long time then times out.

Is there anything I can do here/should I expect this problem to be solved on TI side (hopefully pretty soon)?

Thanks,

Matti

  • Hi,

Thank you for letting us know. I've submitted an internal ticket to look into this and expect it to get fixed.

I will reply here with further feedback if needed. Thank you.

  • Matti,

I realize some time has past, but I was wondering if I could get some further feedback from you.

Is it always the Linux kernel that you have trouble with? Or, do you get errors with other repos on git.ti.com?

    Thank you.

  • Ron,

Yes, it seems so. For instance I get that same message when I execute.

    bitbake tcpdump -f -c clean

I was about telling that problem is not now as bad as it used to be. as recently only every other trial has failed. However, now it failed four times in row as I investigated this problem for you question.

    So, I had to execute

    bitbake tcpdump -f -c clean

    (and wait for timeout)

    bitbake tcpdump -f -c clean

    (and wait for timeout)

    bitbake tcpdump -f -c clean

    (and wait for timeout)

    bitbake tcpdump -f -c clean

    bitbake tcpdump -f

    Thanks,

    Matti

  • Thank you for taking time to provide additional feedback. It is appreciated.

  • Hi,

We have been making some git.ti.com improvements the last couple of weeks. If you are still working in this area, could you update us to see if you are still seeing similar issues?

    Thank you.

  • Hi,

My colleague was making some development on some module about two weeks ago. He told that only about one of five runs passed. Same day I run whole image and it went through in the first trial. So, this is most likely pretty much time dependent problem. Aren't your daily builds run nightly? If so, they can be timed exactly on our daytime and could exhaust our git access.

I have not been actively working on TI related project lately, so I can't say anything precise. Anyhow, I have not had any problems during those couple of times I have accessed git.ti.com during last two weeks - including the trial a couple of minutes ago.

    Thanks,

    Matti
