We are working on am5718 IDK and we try to integrate the GSM modem.

Is there any document to integrate the GSM modem on android 9?

We build RIL related files but still, we can't able to find any modem or sim related menu in settings.

Question:

How are you connecting the GSM modem on your end product? Which interface are you using?

Sometimes the OEM/device manufacturers use USB for connecting such modules.

if thats the case, and need more details on which usb mode is tested with the released SDK , we can provide more details accordingly.

Hi,

How are you connecting the GSM modem on your end product? Which interface are you using?

Modem connected through USB interface.

Linux kernel can detect usb modem and dev node are created.

RIL daemon is started and running sucessfully,I attached log for your referance.

It seems android framework not connected communicating with RIL.

1. Are you connecting the modem at boot or after boot(hotplug).

2. What is the modem part details ?

3. What do you see in logcat error do you see related to the telphone/ril service ?

Please use the recommendation of references available in AOSP for device/google/* on how a modem is configured with a device.

our EVM doesnt have modem integration and we do not touch any telephony/radio stack on top of what is coming from android stack from google.
We do test the standard USB interfaces in android , and based on your logs i dont see any specific failures related to the mentioned SOC or its peripherals .

If configuring a modem as per google's radio integration guidelines is still not sufficient to make this external modem integration work, you need to contact the modem vendor for integration guidelines on android pie version (including the supported kernel driver and firmware).
