Hi,

Can anyone suggest/provide me source, how to boot the TMS320C6745 DSP processor from external NOR flash?. I've developed an application using CCS and generated a boot image (.bin file) using the AISgen tool (AISgen_d800k008) which I'm not sure about the correctness. I'm pretty new to this and can anyone help me? Thanks

Hello,

From looking at your screenshots, I see you are using AISgen D800K008 which is for C6748/C6746/C6742 and OMAP-L138/L132.

For C6747/C6745/C6743 you need to use AISgen D800K005. It can be downloaded from the application note linked in my previous reply.

Hello,

Thank you. With AISgen D800K005 I was able to generate .bin file. But my question is How to write .bin file into W25Q64FV 64M Bit SERIAL FLASH) and after that how to connect the NOR flash with TMS320C6745?

After generating the .bin file, you can flash the device via UART using the UartHost utility as mentioned in section 8 "UART Boot Host - Using Your PC as a UART Boot Master" of the Using the TMS320C6747/45/43 Bootloader application note.

Hi Sahin,

Thank you. My main problem is interfacing with the said NOR flash with TMS320C6745. Which one to use either SPI or EMIFA? and if EMIFA or SPI is used, how the data (i.e., bootable file in NOR Flash) transfer occurs between NOR flash to the TMS320C6745 during power-on reset?.

We have CCS project for writing binaries into NOR flash.

C:\ti\OMAP-L137_FlashAndBootUtils_2.40\OMAP-L137\CCS\NORWriter

Also we have SFH tool to flash the binaries.

sfh_OMAP-L137 -flash_noubl -flashType NOR led.ais

Download the serial flash and boot utility from here:

You can also try the LED example in the below which has AIS configuration for NOR,NAND and UART boot.
