AM6548: Battery operation

Part Number: AM6548

Can AM654x be used in battery powered devices (4.2V,4000mAh)?

I am searching for TI's processor with 4GB RAM support and low-power for my design..

I came across AM6548 with max.support of 32GB DDR. I want to confirm if power consumption is low..

  • Hi,
Your query has been assigned to a TI engineer. Please note that response may be delayed due to Christmas and New Year holidays.
  • Hi Pavithra,

It may be possible if your application can make aggressive use of the "MCU-only" power state. DDR can optionally be kept in self-refresh during the low power mode to retain its contents while the rest of the SoC is off. This MCU-only mode is when all modules in the SoC are off except those highlighted in blue below. Even then it may be around 1W in that mode. This SoC when fully powered on will run at about 3.5W to 5W at room temperature depending on Arm / DDR / PCIe utilization. At >90C junction temperatures it can go beyond 6W. The architecture of this SoC was targeted for always-on applications like in servers and industrial settings and it's designed for 100k power-on-hours rather than instant sleep / resume usage.

    Best Regards
    Ahmad
