  • Efim,

    Welcome to DM365 world!

    Here are some answers to your questions and some guidance on how to help you ramp up with DM365.

    1) Yes the DM365 EVM supports a composite output connection so you can connect to your TV.

    2) yes this is ok.

    3) there are SD card slots but if you don't need them you don't have to buy cards, JTAG: if you need to do some non-LINUX debug/development on the EVM then you don't need it, but if you need it we recommend that you purchase a JTAG emulator, Spectrum Digital or Blackhawk are some known TI third parties that make JTAG emulators to talk to the DM365 EVM.

    Here are some very valuable links to help you ramp up:

    TIs external wikis: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Category:DM365

    DM365 EVM website: http://support.spectrumdigital.com/boards/evmdm365/revf/ (this includes some JTAG-Code Composer Studio low level testcase examples, schematics, etc..

    DM365 Product folder: http://focus.ti.com/docs/prod/folders/print/tms320dm365.html : This includes all the device documentation, including application notes and links to the Linux Drivers datasheet and TI Starter Development Kits(SDK) free software/codecs to run on the dm365 evm.

    I hope this helps and puts you on the right track.  You can also always submit questions to the forums after you've run out of options :), there are different forums for dm365 weather you need Linux or multimedia Codecs or HW-Silicon support, here's a link to the guidelines to help guide you. http://e2e.ti.com/support/dsp/davinci_digital_media_processors/f/100/t/37487.aspx

    regards,

    miguel

  • Hello Efim,

    I assume you are using the SDI DM365 EVM.

    Yes, you can connect the board to the TV composite as specified in section 1.1 Key Features in the EVMDM365_TechRef_rev[x]. If you don't have it, you can download from here.

    DS2-DS9 LEDs are on indicating the board is operational.

    It would be helpful if you have a JTAG in case you need it for debug purposes.

    As for Getting Started, please refer to the page for more info.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

  •  Miguel A. Alanis and Tai Nguyen - thank you very much for very fast answers!!!

    My problem is, that my TV have ONLY composite input, so CrCbY output on evaluation board is not actuall

    I connect board with PC through RS-232 port, a can see/modify parameters

    Now, i understand, for activate composite output of board i need write next text

    setenv bootargs 'mem=116M console=ttyS0,115200n8 root=/dev/mtdblock3 rw rootfstype=yaffs2 ip=off dm365_imp.oper_mode=0 davinci_enc_mngr.ch0_output=COMPOSITE vpfe_capture.interface=0 video=davincifb:vid0=0,2500K:vid1=0,2500K:osd0=720x576x16,2025K  davinci_capture.device_type=1'

    saveenv

    boot

    but nothing is happens on my tv, i can not see connected dvd player...

    Whats wrong???

    Thanks

    P.S. this forum people is much more "warm" that people fro Xilinx forum, where very hard get answers.

    Thanks

  • I would suggest you to figure out a way to do the following. Not sure if there are such option in the NAND bootargs. Let me know if you have trouble achieving so.

    //VDAC_CONFIG

    memtool 0x01C4002C=0x081141e7

    //DACSEL

    memtool 0x01c71ef4=0x210
