AM3354: System boot fails

Hi,Engineers：

This is not my first time using AM3354, so this error is not so common。My hardware is AM3354+TPS65910A1A3+MT41K256M16TW-107（DDR3）+ MT29F8G08ABACAWP(nand flash)。 Power is up. If no any system in SD（mmc1） or nand flash (mmc2), uaually AM3354 uart will keep printing “c” . However, my AM3354 stopped printing 'c' after 15 'c' were printed. That's the problem I cann't resolve.
I emphasize there is no system in SD or nand flash, because system and the PCB will work well if system exists .No matter system starts working from SD(mmc1) or nand (mmc2).After all, Usually after printing 5 "c", the system is started.

There is another phenomenon. I know finding system starting position and printing "c" in the uart are the Inherent function of AM3354. But when I removed the nand from the PCB，the "c" could be keeping print as normal.Just like the problem is disappered. The nand I removed is empty .No any data is in it.
But my products can not work well without nand flash.Haha.

Hi,

Please post what is your SYSBOOT sequence. Also clarify what do you mean by "nand flash (mmc2)"? NAND memories cannot be connected to MMC ports. Do you mean eMMC memory?

Hi:

My arm is AM3354BZCZD80 .My SYSBOOT is 00100b.Sorry and my description is some wrong about nand.

On my board, mmc0 is connnect to SD. mmc1 is connect to nand chip, which is not a eMMC。mmc2 is not used as a MMC Port. So I am sorry about my misleading description.

mmc1 in my description is the signals ,including mmc1_clk(pin U9), mmc1_cmd(pin V9), mmc1_dat0(V7),etc.

This is impossible. NAND flash memories are supported only on the GPMC interface. They cannot work with MMC ports.

YES, I know your meaning now.

One pin of AM3354BZCZD80 could have different functions. For example ,When I Talk about pin V7 ,it is GPMC_AD0，but I named it mmc1_dat0. So , It just a misunderstanding because of my wrong name .In fact , I connect nand to GPMC. The nets include "GPMC_AD[0：7]，GPMC_WEN、GPMC_REN、GPMC_ADVN_ALE、GPMC_BEN0_CLE“and Enable pins". It runs well.

My problem is what caused the AM3354 Stopping printing "c" ? In that time, no system was pragrammed in nand.

The most likely reason is that ROM code detects the NAND, tries to boot from it and reads something that causes it to step out of the sysboot sequence.

I have other model PCB disagn which printed normall. I separated the nand from it , and I used the nand taking place of my PCB.Then the problem was still being.

The nand is new .How can it detect AM3354‘s boot position?

I cannot say based on the picture you post. I suggest you compare the two schematics, especially NAND connections and SYSBOOT settings.
