Compiler/TDA4VM: Are there any atomic operation APIs in DSP

I've found semaphore and spinlock in source code. But I prefer a lighter atomic fetch/add function. Say, I do a atomic counter++, semaphore is not efficient. Since I'll do extensive and high frequent ‘++’/‘--’ such as a ref_cnt.

Is this for multi-processor mutex or within a processor ?

How frequent will this be ? 100 HZ, 1000 HZ or 1MHZ

something like 100HZ or 1000 HZ, semaphore is efficient, you also do a int_disable cnt ++ int restore.

for 1000000 MHZ, I would question why one would need such a mutex operation.

Mostly within a processor.

We use it for inner-processor communication, message publishing and log storage. Averaging one message with 1000Hz and at most 100000Hz log.

Originally we developed on Linux and with gcc, we  tried to used lock-free queue, and it performed good.

But it seems like semaphore is enough as you mentioned above. Then we'd re-check our design and the actual performance.
