AM3352: New Linux SDK release

Part Number: AM3352

Hi SDK champs,

Current linux SDK revision for AM335x sounds to be 06_01_00_08 (http://software-dl.ti.com/processor-sdk-linux/esd/AM335X/latest/index_FDS.html).

My customer is about to start new linux development on AM335x and likes to know if it is worth waiting for a new release to come or go with 06_01_00_08.

Could you tell when a new linux SDK release is planned for AM335x?

Could you provide corresponding contents and/or delta with 06_01_00_08?

Thank you

Best regards,

Guillaume

  • Hi Guillaume,

AM335x has mature software and is very feature complete. There is not much new development and thus few changes from release to release. If your customer is ready to get started now, I would not hesitate to recommend using Processor SDK v6.1. Our next release for AM335x will be v6.3 at the end of Q120. This is a minor "dot" release based on a lot of the same core components and it should be easy to move any work from v6.1 to v6.3.

We plan to release v7.0 in the middle of the year. This is a major release and will update the core components to later releases. Depending on their priorities and needs, they may want to plan to move to this release to extend their support window and have the latest and greatest changes for all of the components in the SDK. I would recommend they plan to make this transition sometime later on this year.

I hope this helps address your questions. Thanks.
